This festival encourages filmmakers from all countries to enter the Film Competition where we will be screening new feature-length films, high-quality short films, documentaries, music videos, and web series as well as conduct talks with industry special guests. So if you’re a feature film filmmaker or a filmmaker that creates innovative short films – whether they’re drama, comedy, animated, documentary (e.g. observational, travel, humanitarian, environmental), or experimental – you’re welcome to enter. And yes, we prefer films in any languages. However, films other than English language, needs to have French or English subtitles.

Florida Shorts is a seasonal competition and an annual online festival dedicated to short films of all genres from the U.S. and international filmmakers. In the first step, our professional screeners will privately review your film each quarterly season, and the highest scored films will become the semi-finalist . The semi-finalist of the seasonal editions are screened privately to jury members of each edition in various categories. All the award winners are then considered for the annual online festival; if they get selected, they will compete with other films in our annual event.

The festival aims to provide a platform for short filmmakers to be seen and heard as best as possible. With this goal, filmmakers don't need to submit their projects for every award category to be considered for different awards. Each project only needs to be submitted for one general category. With each submission, the project will be considered for all of the prizes. All of this happens at a very affordable price.
The festival is very competitive: Each season, our jury selects each category's winners through private screenings (there will be no physical screening; we will issue customized certificates for the winners). The winners of each season will be then considered for the online competition.
